Born in London, UK, Jeremy studied life drawing, sculpture and etching at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University, U.K., while earning a degree in Physics at the University. He studied lithography and life drawing at the Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten, The Hague, The Netherlands, before moving to the heart of Silicon Valley, California, in 1988. First introduced to digital paint in 1991, he live painted on the Wacom booth at SIGGRAPH 1991 Conference in Las Vegas, and has been exploring the digital art medium ever since. After a career selling superconducting magnets and cryogenic systems for physics research, Jeremy became a full time professional artist in 1994 and that year used a prototype Apple PowerBook to draw Sir Richard Branson’s digital portrait on board the Virgin Atlantic San Francisco Inaugural. He is the author of six books on digital painting, including the Painter Creativity: Digital Artist’s Handbook series, and of numerous DVDs. Jeremy, who has used Painter since version 1, is one of only fifty six Corel Painter Elite Masters in the world. He is founder and chief instructor of the online education resource PaintboxTV.com; and has been a platform speaker at many international technology and professional photography conferences. Jeremy is in demand as a live event digital performance painter at special events. He performed live digital painting for Cirque du Soleil in the TOTEM show Tapis Rouge tent in San Francisco; live painted on the iPad at the opening of the epic David Hockney “Bigger Exhibition” in the de Young Museum, 2012, and at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s “America Now!
