Exposing young people to art and creativity can have a big impact on their development. "ArtED" workshops is a key initiative in the creation of a new learning environment for diverse students and teachers in Visual Arts. Our prime focus is to enhance engagement and maximise learning outcomes through art-making using technology around us.
What is Mobile Art?
Simple. Most of your students own or are given an iPad. And nearly all have a smartphone of one kind or another. Each of these platforms offers them a tremendous opportunity to create. Students can explore drawing and painting, digital photography, digital storytelling, animation and graphic design. When using iPads, mistakes can be erased and experiments are easily undertaken. This new and exciting art medium is now known as 'Mobile Art'.
This hands on workshop will help you navigate your way through the many different art apps available so you can empower your own students and introduce them to Mobile Art. This will enable your class to create and share digital content and media focusing on art and cross-curricular learning.
WHEN: March 28th, 2015
WHERE: Pacific Art League
668 Ramona St, Palo Alto, CA 94301
Bring your own iPad because the first order of business is to learn some of the major apps yourself. Even if you already use them, you will find the workshops fun and engaging.
The afternoon workshops introduce you to the different resources that exist to help you take this art medium into your classroom. We will be able to provide you with a well scaffolded series of videos that the student can use to learn each of the major art apps that will then allow you to facilitate them to start creating.
This day of workshops will also be a forum for you, the art educator, to give us your needs and wants in terms of mobile digital art educational tools., and talk to some of the major app developers so they can respond better to those needs.
